Correction : The Perfect Proposal
My fiance, Greg, and I had been dating long distance for the first year of our relationship - he's from Los Angeles, and we had a chance meeting through a mutual friend while on vacation in San Diego. He's not very familiar with the Minneapolis area, so I typically planned most of our activities when he came to visit. The Friday before Memorial Day, I suggested we save a little money and use our Groupon to Al Vento. We had an amazing dinner there on the patio, and afterward I took him over to Minnehaha Falls, since we were right down the road. Greg is big into taking pictures all the time, so we were snapping photos of each other and ourselves throughout the park. As we walked down the creek to where it goes under a little bridge then opens up into a 1-inch deep "wading pool" of sorts, I told him that it would be a great spot to get a picture... so I picked up my dress and walked in while he asked a couple to take a picture for us. They snapped a few pictures, and I was about to walk out and get the camera back, but Greg stopped me, kissed me, and started kneeling down, right in the water! The first thing out of my mouth was "You're getting your jeans wet!" He just smiled and started telling me how much he loved me, how wonderful his life has been since he met me, and that he only wanted one thing for his birthday (which was on Monday), and that was me. He reached into his pocket, took out the ring, and slipped it on my finger as he asked me to marry him. It was right about then that I lost it =) I was crying and laughing and hugging him all at once. Little did I know, he had told the couple with our camera that he was about to propose, so they were able to capture the entire thing with a ton of great pictures. I was completely shocked and surprised!! Granted, we had talked about it before... but the timing was so out of the blue, especially since I had planned the whole evening! He told me he had planned to carry the ring around all weekend, waiting for the right moment - and inadvertently, I had set it up just perfectly for him by bringing him to that park. It was the most beautiful, picturesque, wonderful moment of my life, and I will never forget it.
